Hi! I'm a huge fan of Scott's and have absolutely enjoyed assembling my D-7. I finished it today, and it now has a proud spot on my computer desk.
I took a bunch of pictures of it. However, I didn't realize there was already dust accumulating on the model until I looked at the close up shots. Oh
well.

I've tried to include descriptions with some of the links below. I added some detail that clearly isn't canon and I wanted to explain my motivation
for doing...

Done enough for these purposes. The decals disintigrated. I will need to get new ones from JT Graphics. There is the spot painting to do, as well as craft two replacement parts.
Okay fellow D-7 modelers! Time for me to start showing my progress with this kit.

Since receiving the kit around 4 weeks ago, I have been slowly working on doing the basic cleanup and filling surface imperfections. Earlier this week, I got to the point where the rough work was far enough along to get me to the second phase: initial priming and final defect elimination.

This first photo is of the overall model, minus engines, laid out on my workbench. I'm still amazed at the...

There are a few modifications I plan on making to this kit that I haven't seen anyone else do so far, so hopefully I can get some feedback before I do anything foolish.

So far I haven't done a whole lot. I've glued the two halves of the engineering hull together, and am busy smoothing out the central seam. I've widened the fore part of the neck and narrowed the upper aft of the command deck. So far, I haven't seen any other build-ups with this modification.

Yesterday, I glued...

One model was delivered as soon as possible, so filming could start, and the other was used in the production of the model kit, which is exactly one-half the size of the filming models.
This model of the Klingon D-7 Battlecruiser is a direct descendant of the actual filming model. It is the same size (28 inches) and is identical to the filming model-- because the master I used was from a mold of the actual filming model!

I don't know how many generations from 'original' this is, but it is the real deal. What I got suffered from 'generation distortion' which I have since corrected. You will see some flaws in the model shown here, which won't be in the production...
