need help with 1/6 monolith |

Working on a "dawn of man" diorama. I'm having a hard time nailing down the size of the monolith in 1/6. Was it 9 feet tall, or 11 feet? From my
readings I've come across the size ratio is 1:3:9. However that would make it about 1 inch thick if I'm doing my math correctly. Seems too thick to me.
Any thoughts! Charlie

The monolith, according to Clarke, was supposed to be the squares of the first three prime numbers: 1, 2, 3. Thus the sides would be 1 x 4 x 9, not 1 x 3 x 9.
This was what he talked about in the book, but it was not carried through in the movie. The ratio of the monolith appears to be closer to 1/2 x 3 x 9, as it
was very thin. I constructed a 1 x 4 9 version and it doesn't look anything like the movie monolith. As for the actual height of the set piece used in the
Dawn of Man sequence, I am not sure of the dimensions used for construction. Hopefully someone on the board here would have that info handy.

If I live to be a thousand, I'll still be cursing these things out-- I just answered with that damnable "quick answer" thing and it went away.
