I'm getting close to needing some hoses for Bowman. I know steel guitar/piano strings will probably work. Does anyone have alternatives for thick and thin hoses at that scale that would do as well? --Jim

you can try fake braided hose line made by Microscale Models ( i think) or elastic piping available at fabric stores has the dimensionality and texture if painted.

I use really small coaxial sheathing with a small, stiff wire on the inside. Otherwise I wind thread onto a wire that has spray adhesive on it. Once the hose is formed into place, I put a tiny bit of thin superglue on it and sand off the hairs with 400 or 600 grit sandpaper.

In the past I have started with a small bare wire and then wraped it with a small guage insulated wire like phone wire....then paint it.
Good luck! |

Not sure what the hoses need to look like but the wire guide in a mig gun might be good. I get them out of the scrap box at work. They seem to go through them pretty quickly.

While I have not needed to find scale hoses in quite some time, I would suggest that you visit a few modeling company's web sites that cater to scale car modeling. I have a selection of various scale braided hoses and fine wire that are used to detail model car engines. These have come in handy quite a few times when modeling non-car models that require hoses!
