Paulbo quite rightly points out that the top "crescents" of the main console are not separate panels as I have drawn them. By way of explanation, I separated the areas out into separate bits which differed as to plane or orientation. The SMC top quarter and the SMC front quarter are indeed areas of the same plane, but the difference in orientation of the controls on this panel is about 15 degrees. I guess this is the influence of my work habits when preparing drawings or templates; I would have made a detail drawing of the SMC top quarter all by itself. Sorry to create any confusion.
To head off another potential confusion, I'd like to point out that the CMC displays as I have drawn them are split into two, representing the two planes evident on page 50 of the new Bizony. Yes, I know the CMC displays on page 102 of the new Bizony are equally evident as being on the one plane, but I put this down to a difference in the building of two Pod sets. The set with the CMC displays on one plane as seen on p102 of newBizony is, I think, the set that appears in the photo of Kubrick leaning over Frank, and blowing smoke into his helmet, the Pod set without a ceiling.
Perhaps we should talk over the nomenclature for a day or two, and when it's agreed, then go back to "accurising", or start a new "panels" thread, and discuss the panels one by one.
