The model is now finished. Once I get the masters back, I'll be able to get this into rubber very quickly. Actually, I have about half the parts already in rubber, its the ones that have just been finished that still need to be molded. In the meantime-- here are some shots of the finished model--

Here are some shots of the assembly jig that is included in the kit. This jig is necessary so the assembly of the solar panel booms is not as much of a pain in
the butt as it could be!
These are the parts for the jig. 
The jig assembled. The depression in the middle is just for clearance, so the crossbar isn't glued to the jig! 
This is a finished boom. The panels are castings, the mounting brackets have to be made from some .020 plastic included in the kit and the spar and crossbar are made from .062 rod, also included in the kit. It only takes a single drop of superglue to join the spar to the crossbar. 
The jig really makes this assembly very easy. And not nearly the mess it could be! |

Scott, the rear tube of the 3 in my kit does not seem to have the detail of the plate with 3 small depressoins on it which the pics above show. I think I have
the right two tube parts since each is different, but the solid end of the one that should have the plate is an open pour which I'll need to sand down a
bit. Did the design cchange, or do I have a wrong /defective part?

That part is one you have to make out of the strip styrene-- I just forgot to mention that somewhere! I will take care of that right away. Scott |
