Posts: 58 (11/18/08 12:16:37) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Tags : None I believe that the number-counting displays in Aries (above the window), and Moon Bus (to either side of square monitors) are what used to be called "Nixie Tubes"; a layered set of tiny filaments in the shape of numbers that would glow when powered up. Basically a low power neon light bulb with many selectable filaments, that are allowed to just barely glow enough to be read. Last Edited By: treddie 11/18/08 12:19:34. Edited 1 time.

I used to keep mine at the Sony Store on fifth Ave!) but check this guy out-- he's nuts! And that's a good thing! http://www.amug.org/~jthomas/clockpage.html

Personally, I think something along those lines would actually sell. Thanks for posting that link. My introduction to Nixie tubes was similar to yours. I had a friend who lived across the street in the mid 60s whose dad was in the banking business. He brought home a laptop sized calculator one day and we all had fun playing with it and being amazed at the Nixie tubes lighting up and cycling down the digits as it number crunched an answer. It took that long to do some calculations.
