I was visiting Monsters in Motion the other day and in their display room they have a built-up version of their 1/32 scale moonbus. I was talking with the
owner and mentioned that when the kit shows up on Ebay that it is usually sold at a nice price. I asked him why they discontinued the production of it and he
explained that the casting is done pretty much by hand, (probably the same way that Scott does a lot if not all of his casting), and that he didn't think
that there was much of a call for it. Originally he sold the kit for $250 and when there were not many takers on it he lowered the price to $200. I said that I
would be interested in the kit if it were available again as I thought others would be too.
I told him of the many people out there, most of them visiting Scott's website among others, and the enthusiasm for quality 2001 model kits. I may have put an idea in his head about reproducing the kit. If others are interested, email Monsters in Motion and let them know that you would like to see the Moonbus put back into production again.
I don't want to undermine Scott's excellent version that he is currently working on along with dozens of other projects on his plate, and I for one will be on the list to purchase one of Scott's Moonbuses when it becomes available. But, for those of us who are drooling for a nice, large, quality version of the vehicle, MIM might be the way to go for now.
